The Joint Interagency Field Experimentation (JIFX) event from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in the US presented the capabilities of several defense technologies, according to a press release.

Among them was a week-long exercise that took place in early February at Camp Roberts in California, showcasing the LWS laser systems and their capabilities in countering drones.

The event featured 23 industry partners testing 24 new technologies in areas such as anti-drone systems, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and precision strike capabilities.

This was “the most engaging experimentation week since before the pandemic,” according to Colonel Michael Richardson, Director of JIFX and retired from the US Army Special Forces.

Due to the storms in California, weather conditions slightly affected the tests, but Richardson emphasized that these adverse weather conditions reflect real-world operational challenges.

“Several companies took first place with their systems, and almost all collaborated in one or two ad hoc experiments that demonstrated their ability to tackle operational challenges more effectively together.”
